Trans-Tasman final looms as first t20 World Cup trophy up for grabs

After two nail biting semi finals that went down to the wire, we are left with two unexpected yet deserving teams. Both sides have just seemed to get better in this tournament. Neither of these countries have lifted the t20 world cup before as the stakes are high as ever.

New Zealand are a mysterious team in ICC events. However well they do, they are never considered favourites simply because they don't stand out on paper. But the truth is they have made 4 finals out of the last 6 ICC events. Their biggest strength is their bowling, both in the powerplay led by Boult and Southee and in the middle overs spearheaded by Sodhi. Along with good bowling, they have a quality captain, arguably the best captain in world cricket right now. In the previous game Daryll Mitchell and Jimmy Neesham chased 60 off 5 overs with an over to spare in an incredible rescue effort. However in the last match they picked up an injury in the form of Devon Conway and Tim Seifert is likely to replace him as the wicket keeper.

The Aussies, arguably the best cricket team in ICC events with 5 world cups are always favourites in any tournament they play. But this time that wasn't the case. Many stars like Cummins, Starc, Zampa and Finch had missed IPL game time and their best batter David Warner was woefully out of form. Additionally they had lost a series to Bangladesh jus before the world cup. But come the big stages, in comes the biggest of teams, David warner has suddenly found his ominous form, zampa is in lovely rhythm and their power hitting has been redeemed with Stoinis and Wade's match winning performance.

Personally, I think Australia are going to come up trumps because of the matchwinners in their team, but both teams will be feeling good as ever after knocking out two of the favourites in the semifinals.
